While pursuing professional treatment for an addiction is almost always the best option for an individual suffering from even a mild drug or alcohol addiction, the very real question that usually accompanies a decision to pursue treatment is what costs are associated with it, and how expensive the final bill may be. In fact, some individuals are so concerned with the cost, they often elect to forego treatment altogether, scared to death just thinking about the amount of debt they might rack up from an extended stay at a rehab center or treatment facility. While price is a very real concern, it should absolutely not be a fear. No matter what, recovering from addiction is worth any of the associated costs. Unfortunately, many individuals force themselves to believe that addiction recovery is just a scam for money, it does not work, or it is not worth the investment. This could not be more inaccurate! Additionally, you will be happy to know that the costs are not nearly as high as you would think. Some treatment centers actually offer free services, though there may be a waiting line for entry. Others offer services based on one of two options: inpatient rehab, or outpatient rehab. Experts indicate that outpatient care is usually significantly less than inpatient care, and some programs can cost as little as $1,000 to $2,000 a month, depending on the addiction, its severity, and the drug used. Treatment for heroin, for instance, which requires frequent and careful monitoring, would be closer to the $2,000 mark. Cocaine treatment would be significantly less. Most outpatient centers usually suggest a three month stay. The average bill at the end of a three month treatment session may be around $5,000. Inpatient care involves patients staying “on campus,” so to speak, so costs are comparatively higher. For inpatient rehab, costs usually range from around $6,000 to $20,000 a month. This fee includes all meals, housing, medication, therapy session, and activities. The minimum stay for inpatient rehab is thirty days, and it is usually used for more serious, long-term addictions. The great news is that most insurance plans cover almost all of the cost of rehab! If your plan is state-financed, private, military, Medicaid, or Medicare, you can rest easy knowing that you will have to pay but a fraction of the price. Depending on the situation, some may even cover everything!
