Oceanfront Recovery to Serve as Primary Sponsor of Spencer Pigot’s No.11 Chevrolet Entry for the 101st Running of the Indianapolis 500
Oceanfront Recovery is raising awareness about the importance of essential health benefits to combat the opioid epidemic through the entry of the number 11 Oceanfront Recovery Chevrolet driven by Verizon Indycar Sophomore Spencer Pigot. Spencer is a rising star in the Indy Racing League and has secured a seat with Juncos Racing for the 101th running of the Indianapolis 500 with support from Oceanfront Recovery through Rising Star Racing. Spencer has the pace to compete with Indycar veterans on both oval and road courses, and is coming home to Juncos racing after winning both Pro Mazda in 2014 and Indy Light Championships in 2015.
During the Grand Prix of Indianapolis Spencer passed more cars on track during the race than any other car in the field – a top 5 finish was unfortunately only held up by an engine stall during a pit stop. Spencer will now move over from Ed Carpenter Racing to join Juncos Racing for the Indianapolis 500. Spencer will have his second opportunity to compete in the Greatest Spectacle in Racing. “I have been a fan of racing my entire life. I think it might be in my DNA, but I always wanted to be involved in motorsports and now having the opportunity to support a rising star like Spencer, and raise awareness about an important issue is really a dream come true,” said Bobby Hillis, founder of Oceanfront Recovery. “I think Spencer will be one of the next superstars in racing given the opportunity” “First I want to thank Ricardo (Juncos) for this opportunity. The Indy 500 is the greatest race in the world and to be able to drive in it again is fantastic. Last year was my first Indy 500 and I learned a lot. I am confident that I will be able to apply what I learned and a better result this time around.” The car made its first run in the Verizon IndyCar Series at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on May 15, during the first day of practice for the Indianapolis 500. Spencer, in the Oceanfront Recovery Chevrolet, was the first Juncos Racing driver to turn a lap on the fabled 2.5-mile oval. He went out at noon for an installation lap, checking the car to make sure all the systems were functioning properly.
“Yeah, it was a good first day,” Pigot said. “We didn’t really have any issues and that’s what we wanted. We didn’t do a huge amount of laps. We just did a few runs to make sure everything was working well and just kind of did our own thing today. As the week goes on we’ll get more aggressive and start running in traffic a bit more, find some people to get tows and go a little bit quicker. Today the goal was to make sure everything ran okay and we did that.” The 101st running of the Indianapolis 500 is scheduled for May 28, 2017.
